United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is pleased to contact you in order to invite you to register for the global "Mercury Laboratory Databank". The Databank will list laboratories capable of analyzing mercury in biotic and/or abiotic matrices. If your laboratory undertakes such analysis and you are interested to register, please complete the attached questionnaire (an unofficial translation of questionnaire is attached) and send it back to us by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Mercury Laboratory Databank is being established by UNEP Chemicals and Waste Branch, in close cooperation with the World Health Organization and the Italian National Research Council, within the framework of the project "Development of a Plan for Global Monitoring of Human Exposure to and Environmental Concentrations of Mercury", funded by the Global Environment Facility. The Databank will be accessible online and periodically updated.
It will serve as a resource for stakeholders, seeking to identify laboratories capable of identifying and quantifying mercury species in human cord blood, fish, ambient air, etc. The gathering of comparable data on the levels of mercury in vulnerable populations and environmental media is an important component of the Minamata Convention on Mercury.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation!
If you have any questions, please contact us (in English) by e-mail:
It is necessary to complete all information about a laboratory in English (i.e. complete the English version of questionnaire). Russian translation of the questionnaire (unofficial) is attached for your information.
